Samurai Sakai Kyuzo Narishige by Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861), master of ukiyo-e style of Japanese woodblock prints. The samurai's expression and posture reflect his indomitable fighting spirit, but the helmet, standard and sword laying on the ground in front of him indicate that this battle has been lost.
